Welcome to
KSHETRI WELFARE FOUNDATION UK
Initially set up as a social association (Chhetri Samaj UK) by a small number of like-minded retired Gurkha personnel with the aim of promoting Nepalese/Chhetri culture and heritage in the UK, the association has evolved considerably since its inception in 2007, both in its outlook and remit. The intent originally was to remove social isolation and provide mental health support to its members by organising social gatherings, but in recent years, the association has increasingly taken on the added responsibility of providing welfare support to its members, thus becoming more of a charity in its makeup. It has also assumed a charitable purpose of acknowledging and rewarding notable achievements in the field of education, thereby encouraging the younger generations to excel in their chosen fields for the benefit of society as a whole. The new name – Kshetri Welfare Society UK (KWSUK) – more accurately reflects its vision and mission.

What do we do
The promotion of social inclusion for the public benefit among people who are from Nepalese communities who are socially excluded on the grounds of their race, ethnicity, religion, belief, immigration status or financial hardship, by providing:
- Social and recreational facilities and events involving the local community
- Accessible opportunities to participate in cultural and health-related activities
- Promoting arts and culture through events, performances, and exhibitions showcasing traditional Nepalese art, architecture, attire, and cuisine.
- Providing relief to those in financial hardship through funds, food, and clothing.
How do we help
- Hiring safe space facilities and building networks in the UK for people of Nepalese descent to foster belonging, reduce social isolation, and improve quality of life.
- Providing financial and material assistance, including food and clothing.
- Supporting those in need with medical expenses or funeral costs.
- Offering food, clothing, financial, and emotional aid to victims of natural disasters in both the UK and Nepal.
